Volunteering at St. Stephen’s Shelter

The Shipping and Admin Department at Probus OneTouch has cooked and served meals for the emergency shelter at St. Stephen’s Human Services on several occasions. St. Stephen’s mission is “to end homelessness through services to support the homeless and those in extreme poverty.”

Harvesters Community Food Network

The Customer Service team in Kansas City donated 4 hours towards making BackSnacks for children of low income families. These food packages provide much-needed nourishment through the weekend to children who otherwise might go hungry. The BackSnacks program, started in 2004 by Harvesters, currently serves over 10,000 children every week in the Greater Kansas City area.

Bed Race for Bridging 2010

Six teams from Probus raced down Buck Hill on mattresses in a fundraiser event for Bridging, a nonprofit organization that seeks to bridge the gap between the “haves” and the “have nots” by providing quality furniture and household items to families in need.

Urban HomeWorks Project

The Warehouse and Marketing departments at Probus OneTouch volunteered for a home building project with Urban HomeWorks, an organization that remodels apartments, homes, and condos for low income families that live in North Minneapolis. The mission of Urban HomeWorks is to “perpetuate the hope of Jesus Christ through innovative community development that produces dignified housing for low income families, a strategic network of good neighbors and the redemptive development of real estate.”

Probus Supports Trinity First Elementary

Probus OneTouch donated $1000 as part of the matching funds project for Trinity First, headed up by the senior class at Concordia Academy. As a philanthropy project for a theology course, the senior class researched different organizations and selected Trinity First Elementary School in Minneapolis as a local cause worthy of funding. The money raised by Concordia students allowed Trinity to add another classroom and admit more students.
